Blog 2: Three Years, One Vision: Celebrating the Spirit of JSPM University

A university is not simply a place of learning; it is a community where aspirations grow, talents flourish, and futures begin to take shape. The 3rd Foundation Day of JSPM University was a proud moment that reflected the journey, achievements, and vibrant spirit of the institution.

The campus atmosphere on this special occasion was filled with excitement and pride. Students, faculty members, and staff gathered together to celebrate not only the foundation of the university but also the progress made in just three remarkable years.

The celebration began with inspiring addresses from university leaders and faculty members who highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Their words reminded everyone that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge but about shaping responsible individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society.

One of the most engaging highlights of the day was the series of cultural and creative performances presented by students. Each performance was a reminder that universities are not only centers of academic learning but also spaces where creativity and confidence thrive.

Students from different departments enthusiastically participated in the celebrations, creating an atmosphere of unity and collaboration. The event provided an opportunity for students to step beyond classrooms and showcase their abilities, making the day both memorable and inspiring.

Another significant aspect of the celebration was the sense of reflection it brought. Such occasions strengthen the bond within the academic community. They remind students that they are part of a larger journey, one that encourages growth, innovation, and lifelong learning.

“The true spirit of a university lies not in its buildings, but in the dreams, determination, and dedication of the people who walk through its halls.”

Blog 3: The Spirit of JSPM University

Celebrating Three Years of Vision, Inspiration and Growth

Universities are not defined solely by their buildings, courses, or examinations; they are defined by the spirit they cultivate among their students. The celebration of the third foundation day of JSPM University, Pune was a vivid reflection of such a spirit—one that blends academic excellence with creativity, historical consciousness and social responsibility. Over the course of three inspiring days, the university welcomed distinguished personalities from diverse fields who shared their journeys, experiences and insights with students. These interactions transformed the celebration into more than a ceremonial occasion; it became an opportunity for reflection, inspiration and intellectual growth.

The Vision Behind JSPM University

JSPM University was established in 2023 as an important milestone in the educational journey of the Jayawant Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (JSPM), an institution dedicated to providing quality education and nurturing future leaders. The organization was founded by visionary educationist Dr. T. J. Sawant, whose mission has always been to build institutions that combine academic excellence with practical knowledge and ethical values.

Over the years, JSPM has developed a strong reputation for its commitment to education across various disciplines. The establishment of the university marked a new phase in this journey, enabling a more interdisciplinary and holistic approach to learning. Inspired by the principles of the National Education Policy, the university focuses on experiential learning, research, innovation and skill development.

Within a short span of three years, JSPM University has begun to cultivate a dynamic academic environment where intellectual growth is complemented by cultural engagement and social awareness. The celebration of its third foundation day served as a reminder of the institution’s rapid progress and its aspirations for the future.

Highlights of the Third Foundation Day

The celebration was thoughtfully organized as a three-day intellectual and cultural event, bringing together personalities whose work reflects creativity, historical awareness and social responsibility. Each day offered students valuable insights beyond the boundaries of traditional academic learning.

Day One: Creativity and Storytelling

The first day featured an inspiring interaction with the renowned actor, writer and director Girish Kulkarni.

Kulkarni is widely respected in Indian cinema for his powerful performances and meaningful storytelling. He received the National Film Award for Best Actor and Best Screenplay for the acclaimed Marathi film Deool, which portrayed the social transformation of rural India. He has also played memorable roles in films such as Valu, Vihir and the Hindi blockbuster Dangal.

What makes his journey particularly inspiring is the unconventional path he followed. Before entering cinema, Kulkarni studied engineering and worked in the corporate sector. However, his passion for theatre and storytelling eventually guided him toward filmmaking and acting.

During his interaction with students, he spoke about the importance of authenticity, creativity and perseverance. His journey demonstrated that success is often achieved when individuals pursue their passions with dedication and sincerity. For students, the session offered valuable insight into the relationship between creativity and meaningful storytelling.

Day Two: Learning History through Innovation

The second day welcomed Sarang Mandke and Sarang Bhoirkar, founders of the storytelling initiative Gosht Ithe Sampat Nahi.

Their initiative focuses on presenting historical narratives, particularly the life and leadership of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, in ways that resonate with modern audiences. Through storytelling sessions, public lectures and digital media, they attempt to revive interest in history among young people.

Their session demonstrated that history is far more than a collection of dates and events. Instead, it represents a source of leadership lessons, courage and vision. The life of Shivaji Maharaj continues to inspire generations through his principles of governance, strategy and respect for cultural values.

For students, this interaction highlighted the relevance of historical understanding in the modern world. It showed how innovative approaches can transform the way history is communicated and appreciated.

Day Three: Social Responsibility and Service

The final day featured the presence of the renowned actor and social activist Makrand Anaspure.

Apart from his successful career in Marathi cinema, Anaspure is widely known for his humanitarian work through the Naam Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting farmers and rural communities in drought-affected regions of Maharashtra.

The foundation works toward water conservation, village development and providing assistance to families affected by agrarian distress. Through these initiatives, it has brought attention to the challenges faced by farmers and has contributed significantly to rural welfare.

During his address, Anaspure emphasized an important message: education should ultimately serve society. Professional success, he explained, becomes meaningful only when individuals use their knowledge and skills to improve the lives of others. His words encouraged students to view education not merely as a path to personal success but also as a responsibility toward society.

A Student’s Reflection

As a first-year BBA LL.B student at JSPM University, witnessing these three days of celebration was both inspiring and enlightening. At the beginning of our academic journey, such interactions play an important role in shaping our perspectives and aspirations.

Listening to individuals from diverse fields—cinema, historical storytelling and social service—helped us understand that learning extends far beyond textbooks and classrooms. True education involves exposure to experiences and ideas that encourage us to think critically about our role in society.

The foundation day celebrations also reflected the university’s commitment to providing students with opportunities that nurture creativity, awareness and intellectual curiosity. For students pursuing professional disciplines such as law and business, such experiences are invaluable in developing broader perspectives and responsible leadership.

The Spirit of JSPM University

The spirit of JSPM University lies in its ability to connect education with inspiration. By inviting personalities who have made significant contributions in their respective fields, the university creates a platform where students can learn from real-world experiences.

The third foundation day celebration demonstrated that the university values not only academic excellence but also cultural awareness and social responsibility. These values are essential in shaping students into thoughtful professionals and responsible citizens.

As JSPM University continues to grow, the first three years represent only the beginning of a much larger journey. With a strong vision, dedicated faculty and an enthusiastic student community, the university is steadily building a tradition of learning, innovation and service.

For students like me, being part of this institution at such an early stage of its development is both an opportunity and a responsibility. The spirit of JSPM University is not merely reflected in its celebrations or achievements—it lives in the curiosity, dedication and aspirations of its students.

As the university moves forward, this spirit will continue to guide its path, inspiring future generations to pursue knowledge, embrace creativity and contribute meaningfully to society.
