Grammar Crimes:Behind the Blackboard
The Faculty of Education and Humanities successfully organized a Faculty Enhancement Programme titled “Grammar Crimes: Behind the Blackboard” on 31 January 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Main Building. The session aimed to address common English language errors encountered in academic environments.
The session focused on practical language issues such as subject-verb agreement, Appropriate Use of Vocabulary, common sentence structure errors, confusing words, redundancy, and inappropriate formal/informal usage in academic settings.
The session included activities that included Para Jumbled sentences, Taboo - Vocabulary Enhancing Activity, live error-detection activities that included real-life examples, humorous illustrations. The participants were encouraged to identify “grammar crimes” in everyday professional communication. The session also included group-based tasks where faculty members analyzed sample sentences and corrected errors collaboratively.
“WORKSHOP ON TIE & DYE”
The Department of Fashion Design, Faculty of Education and Humanities, JSPM University, successfully conducted a hands-on and experiential workshop titled “Tie & Dye” on 28th January 2026.
The workshop was organised to introduce students from diverse academic backgrounds to traditional textile art forms through hands-on learning.
Speaker of the Month, January
The English Language Laboratory, under the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Humanities, JSPM University Pune, successfully organized the Speaker of the Month – January 2026 event on 13ᵗʰ January 2026. Following the successful October and November editions, the theme “Telling a Tale” encouraged students to narrate short stories in English from the mystery or thriller genre. Participants were evaluated on language proficiency, style of narration, creativity, pitch, tone and voice modulation, and overall confident delivery.

“Speak & Perform Studio” – Voice and Performance Workshop
The Department of English, Faculty of Education and Humanities, through Rangmanch – The Theatre Club, organised a theatre-based voice training workshop titled “Speak & Perform Studio”.
The “Speak & Perform Studio” workshop proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative by Rangmanch – The Theatre Club. It successfully highlighted the importance of voice training as a life skill and reinforced the role of theatre in holistic student development.
Geography Day
On the occasion of Geography Day, the Department of Geography, Faculty of Education and Humanities, JSPM University, Pune, organized a guest lecture on 20 January 2026. The session commenced with a brief introductory note highlighting the significance of Geography Day and the relevance of population studies in contemporary geographical discourse.
Mr. Aay Gawari, Assistant Professor from the Department of Geography, Savitribai Phule Pune University, was invited as the Resource Person.
One-Day Workshop on Digital Content Creation
On July 1, 2025, the Faculty of Education and Humanities organised One-Day Workshop On Digital Content Creation.
The workshop successfully introduced university faculty to the essentials of digital content creation. Integrating content creation into curriculum and research communication can significantly enhance academic visibility.
HerFluence: Strength + Wellness + Leadership
The Faculty of Education and Humanities at JSPM University successfully organized a one-hour awareness session titled “HerFluence: Strength + Wellness + Leadership” on 4th December 2025. The initiative aimed at empowering female students through meaningful engagement on women’s health, hygiene, emotional wellness, and personal leadership.
The program was conducted in collaboration with DPGU SMR and Y-Connect, Mumbai, an organization known for its youth development and social outreach initiatives. The session brought together students from across the Faculty, creating an active and inclusive learning environment.
Vitamin P (Positivity)
The Meraki Counselling Cell successfully organized a campus-wide Vitamin P (Positivity) Drive at JSPM University, where teachers and students engaged enthusiastically with uplifting quote chits placed at the Food Court- Lazzy Pizzy shop, Anand Chai Center, and FBMC building- Swaraj Cafeteria. The initiative aimed to bring small doses of happiness into daily routines through motivational quotes in English, Hindi, and Marathi such as “Be kind to yourself!”, “आप जैसे हो, काफ़ी हो।”, “आनंद वाटला तरच वाढतो.”. Both faculty members and students enjoyed picking the chits, reading them aloud, sharing smiles, and encouraging others to try their “dose of positivity.” This spontaneous participation truly reflected how a few good words can turn the day around and how good things come in small packages. The activity also strengthened peer interactions, encouraged mindful thinking, and fostered a cheerful campus environment.
The initiative proved that a simple message can act like “a ray of sunshine,” creating a ripple effect of positivity across the campus.
Constitution Day Celebration 2025
The Department of Political Science and Department of Law, Faculty of Education and Humanities organized a Constitution Day programme on 26th November 2025 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and to promote constitutional values among students. The event brought together faculty members, students, and distinguished guests for an afternoon of reflection on the Preamble and the spirit of Indian democracy.
The programme featured the reading of the Preamble in English by Dr. Sultan Inamdar and in Marathi by Ms. Arpita Kaswa, Dean, FEU. This was followed by an inspiring address by the Chief Guest and an Elocution Competition coordinated by Mr. Yash Gavane and Ms. Samiksha Satav.
The college proudly received a Certificate of Participation from the Ministry of Culture for uploading a video of the reading of the Preamble, as part of the nationwide initiative to promote constitutional values. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony.
Speaker of the Month- November, Debate Competition
The English Language Laboratory steam uccessfully conducted the “Speaker of the Month” Debate Competition for November 2025 under the Faculty of Education and Humanities, JSPM University. The event provided an engaging platform for students to showcase their spontaneity, clarity, and command of language through short impromptu speeches.

“FIRST ACT!” - The Theatre Club Launch Event
The Faculty of Education and Humanities, Department of English, organised the launch event of the Rangmanch Theatre Club on 10 November 2025 at the BSP Building (1st Floor). The programme, titled “FIRST ACT!”, marked the official commencement of the club’s activities and introduced students to a dedicated platform for theatre, performance, and creative collaboration.
Teaser Performance
A short teaser performance by student volunteers was presented to provide a glimpse of the artistic direction the club aims to pursue. The play was based on ‘NAVARASA’. This performance successfully captured the audience's attention and set an engaging tone for the event.
Speaker of the Month, October

Short-film Screening, Poster Presentation Competition and Debate Competition
SPARSH Cell under the Faculty of Education and Humanities (FEU) organized a series of engaging activities on October 13, 2025, as part of ‘Education Week 2025’ in collaboration with the Department of Animation and VFX, Faculty of Science and Technology. The day featured a Poster Presentation Competition, a Short Film Screening, and a Debate Competition, all designed to encourage creativity critical thinking, and interdisciplinary participation among students of JSPM University.
Following the poster competition, the short film “Anuja” by Adam Graves was screened. The film offered a reflective and thought-provoking perspective on the transformative power of education, setting the tone for the intellectual exchange that followed in the debate competition.

KATHARANG BOOK and MOVIE CLUB
The Katharang Book and Movie Club, run by the Department of English, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, JSPM University, Pune, held its launch event on the occasion of Reading Inspiration Day on 15th October 2025. The two-hour event was organized in honor of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary, celebrating his lifelong commitment to learning, imagination, and reading.
ZenVybe 2.0” World Mental Health Day
Mental Health Awareness Week (6–10 October 2025) featured a series of engaging events organized by the Department of Psychology:
- 6 October: Photography Competition on the theme “ZEN VYBE 2.0: Promoting Mental Health Awareness through Peace and Serenity,” receiving 81+ entries.
- 7 October: Essay Writing Competition on “Youth, Crisis and the Digital Era: Protecting Mental Health,” with 24 participants.
- 8 October: Flashmob “Celebrate Zindagi” spreading the message “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.”
- 10 October (World Mental Health Day): Interactive stalls including Yoga & Ayurveda, Art Activities (scribbling, mandala, origami), Neuro Games, and Catharsis sessions, engaging a large number of students and faculty.
The week successfully promoted awareness, participation, and open conversations around mental well-being.
Teacher’s Day Celebration
The Student Engagement Team successfully organized the Teacher’s Day Celebration 2025 on 5th September 2025 to honor and appreciate the invaluable contributions of teachers. As the Student Coordinator, I coordinated with all student representatives in collecting funds and planning the event. The celebration was designed to express heartfelt gratitude, showcase student talents, and strengthen the bond between teachers and students.
Debate Competition
The Literati Cell, run by the Department of English, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, JSPM University Pune, organized a debate competition on ‘Should social media platforms be regulated by the government to curb fake news and hate speech?’, which sparked lively arguments and rebuttals, on 18th September 2025.
The competition was judged by Mrs. Arpita Kaswa and Mrs. Madhumita Rane, who also encouraged students to actively participate in such insightful events for their overall development. The participants were judged on their argumentation skills, presentation, and ability to engage with opposing viewpoints.
Raj Shah (LLM, School of Law) bagged the 1st position followed by Vikas Lalaram Choudhari (SY, School of Law) in the 2nd position and Kunal Hemraj Joshi (SY, FEU) in the 3rd position.
Anti-Ragging Street Play
The Literati Cell, run by the Department of English, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, JSPM University Pune, organized a street play on anti-ragging on 14th August 2025. The play, with a runtime of 10 minutes, was a creative effort to raise awareness about the adverse psychological, social, and academic impact of ragging.
The performance featured participation from students across various departments, ranging from BCA to Animation and VFX, as well as PhD scholars, making it an interdisciplinary and collaborative endeavour.
Through a series of dramatic acts, dialogues, and symbolic gestures, the play emphasized the harmful consequences of ragging and the need to uphold dignity, empathy, and peer support within the student community.
The event drew an enthusiastic audience comprising UG, PG students, and faculty members. The impactful message of the play resonated with the participants, evoking strong emotional responses and sparking meaningful conversations about inclusivity and campus safety.
“All About You!”
The Department of Fashion Design, Faculty of Education and Humanities, JSPM University, conducted a highly engaging and interactive session titled “All About YOU, LADIES!” on 30th August 2025.
The session was designed to empower women of all ages by helping them understand their body types, enhance their confidence, and make informed styling choices.
Workshop on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
On October 18, 2024, the Department of English hosted a workshop on ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ led by renowned soft skills trainer Mr. Peeyush Pahade. The session, attended by 80 students and faculty, focused on personal effectiveness, goal setting, and team spirit through interactive activities. Participants were inspired to embrace these habits for personal and academic growth, reflecting the university's commitment to fostering excellence.
One-Day Workshop on Digital Content Creation
On July 1, 2025, the Faculty of Education and Humanities organized a one-day workshop on Digital Content Creation. The program began with a refreshing session of yoga and meditation, setting a positive and focused tone for the day. The workshop was thoughtfully structured into four engaging sessions.
The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Avinash G. Kharat, Director of JSPM and TSSM Group, Pune, who shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of digital content and its practical applications.
Participants gained hands-on experience and developed key competencies, including:
- Practical skills in designing digital educational and promotional content
- Enhanced confidence in using tools such as Suno, YouTube Create, and YT Music
- Increased awareness of digital ethics, copyright considerations, and effective content curation
The workshop proved to be an enriching experience, equipping participants with both technical skills and critical awareness necessary for digital content creation.
Zen Vybe
On October 10, 2024, the Faculty of Education and Humanities at JSPM University’s School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences hosted "Zen Vybe" in celebration of Mental Health Day. Organized by the Psychology Department in collaboration with the Meraki Counseling Cell, the event aimed to spread awareness on mental health and introduce students and faculty to therapeutic practices in art and music. Faculty members, including Dr. Rohan Jadhav and Dr. Chetana Paigonde, guided the event, which featured interactive stalls for Music Therapy, Art Expression, Emotions Identification, and Catharsis. Students engaged with relaxation music, practiced mandala art, identified emotions through emojis, and participated in expressive sessions led by trained facilitators. The activities provided tools for emotional regulation and stress relief, encouraging participants to integrate these practices into daily life. The event fostered an understanding of mental wellness, with attendees receiving resources for professional support from Meraki Counseling Cell.
Harry Potter Skit and Quiz Competition
The Literati Cell of JSPM University’s Faculty of Education and Humanities, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Department of English organized an engaging “Harry Potter Skit and Quiz Competition” on October 25, 2024, at Chanakya Hall. Led by faculty members Mrs. Arpita Kaswa, Dr. Nikita Bhagat, and Vaishnavi Gaikwad, the event centered around the unique theme, “When Gen Z Harry Potter Met Bollywood.” Students performed skits combining iconic Harry Potter characters with Bollywood-style scenarios, delivering humorous dialogues, dance performances, and imaginative adaptations. The event aimed to foster creative thinking, boost confidence, and enhance stage presence among participants. A lively quiz added excitement, testing students’ knowledge of Harry Potter lore. Winners included Dr. Nikita Bhagat (faculty), Vaishnavi Gaikwad (faculty), and Sanchita Wagh (student). The event successfully captivated audiences, blending Harry Potter’s magical world with Bollywood’s vibrance, providing a memorable platform for students to showcase their creative talents.
TEACHER’S DAY 2024
The Faculty of Education and Humanities at JSPM University’s School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences celebrated Teacher’s Day on September 5, 2024, with a meaningful event in the D2 Seminar Hall. Organized with the guidance of Dean Ms. Arpita Kaswa, the celebration aimed to recognize and honor the dedication of faculty members. The event opened with students welcoming teachers and presenting them with roses as tokens of appreciation. Highlights included a spirited ramp walk and a lively game of Teachers' Bingo, where teachers showcased their enthusiasm. A Talent Hunt followed, with teachers sharing their diverse skills, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. Ms. Kaswa concluded the event with an address, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of educators. The celebration successfully fostered stronger student-teacher relationships and emphasized educational values, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.
Heritage Walk SPPU and visit to Pataleshwar caves
The Department of History at JSPM University's School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences organized a Heritage Walk on September 14, 2024, led by faculty members Dr. Rohan Jadhav, Dr. Chetana Paigonde, Mr. Mrunal Patnekar, and Ms. Arusha Gawari. The event took first-year B.A. students to historical sites, including D.V. Potdar Sankul at Savitribai Phule Pune University and the ancient Pataleshwar Caves. Guided by research students from SPPU's History Department, the walk provided insights into Pune's rich heritage. Participants explored the architecture of the Governor's former residence and visited onsite museums, gaining an immersive learning experience. At Pataleshwar Caves, students appreciated ancient cave architecture, enhancing their understanding of cultural artifacts and career paths in heritage management. This enriching experience offered students valuable historical insights and broadened their perspectives on Pune’s heritage.
Guest Lecture on the 'Mental Health Care Act 2017'
The Department of Psychology hosted a guest lecture by Ms. Asmita Dalvi on the “Mental Health Care Act 2017.” This event engaged students from various programs and significantly enhanced their understanding of mental health legislation, fostering awareness of the importance of mental health care and the legal framework supporting it.
