My research interest lies in understanding the roles of sirtuins, PINK1/PARKIN, and the Notch pathway in both neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, with a specific emphasis on understanding mitochondrial dysfunction as a common underlying mechanism. My research can be divided into 2 parts viz

Basic Research:

  1. Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's. In cancer, altered mitochondrial dynamics and function can contribute to metabolic reprogramming and resistance to apoptosis. Elucidating role of PINK1/PARKIN could uncover potential therapeutic interventions
  2. Investigating mechanisms of drug-induced toxicity and drug resistance.

Applied Research:

  1. Drug repositioning for new indications.
  2. Screening potential bioactive compounds for anti-cancer, anti-fibrotic, and anti-Alzheimer activity in in-silico, in-vitro, and in-vivo models.
  3. Developing novel formulations to improve drug solubility, stability, and bioavailability
